Adding new services means taking on new costs for certifications, equipment, licensing, and marketing.
Currently, as a specialist in sports performance and exercise therapy, it is beyond our scope of practice to address pain unless we receive a medical release from a client’s primary care. However, as a Licensed Massage Therapist, individuals who have minor musculoskeletal pain would be able to see us for a sports massage and other therapeutic soft tissue modalities that would be within our scope of practice.
This is why we would like to ask for your help.
As a massage therapy student, we’ll need individuals to sign up for sports massage. This will allow us to practice massage techniques outside of core classes. Because we’re not currently a licensed Therapist in the state of Texas, we are not able to charge for any soft tissue services.
Instead, we would like to ask for donations to help pay for schooling. As a thank you for your donation, and to help pursue certification hours, we would provide you with Sports Massage Work.
What does this mean for you? Get soft tissue work done without the obligation to have to pay a lot of money for it. Donations are completely up to you, and can be sent electronically at any time.
Why Is Dominate My Sport Adding Sports Massage?More Comprehensive Sports Fitness Services
From Coach JP,
Since 2008 I have had the privilege to implement facilitated stretching as an exclusive service. Within my sports training practice, I’ve successfully used Muscle Testing and Muscle Energy Techniques to help individuals increase: mobility, correct muscle strength deficits and, aid recovery from training. A trend started to occur. Instead of providing Facilitated Stretching at the end of each session, clients began to book appointments just for Facilitated Stretching sessions!
In 2010, I enrolled in an Energy and Applied Kinesiology program which introduced me to the modality of touch for health & trigger point release therapy. The trigger point release therapy techniques were established by Dr Janet Travell. Dr. Travell found that the location of your pain (symptoms), may not actually be the cause of the pain (anybody ever had referral pain?). This training (among others) multiplied my experience and changed the way I trained clients, as well as the way I personally trained.
I learned how to train the body in a way that not only increased, balance, joint health/integrity, mobility, speed, agility, strength, power, explosiveness and balance aesthetic but also enhanced movement quality.
Fast forward 12 years later. With the physical demands of sports and general fitness increasing, the risk for injury has also increased. I can see that it’s time to go a bit further with my sports training practice and that the time is now for Dominate My Sport to provide a more comprehensive service to the athletes it serves. To do this I’ve started to pursue becoming a licensed Massage therapist in the state of Texas.
What is Massage?
“Massage is the systematic and scientific manipulation of soft tissue for the purpose of obtaining and maintaining mental and physical health.”
What Are Massage Therapists?
Massage therapists are licensed medical professionals and, this will allow me to bill insurance as I partner with Physical Therapist and Sports Medicine physicians.
How Has Dominate My Sport Been Preparing?
I currently have a partnership with 3 clinics that have referred their patients to me for Sports Performance training and post-rehabilitation (Exercise therapy).
I believe that the moment is now to help the athletes of the Katy, Sugar Land and Greater Houston Metro Area to have even more access to high quality sports performance training, and that this includes providing sports massage therapy services. All of this with the mission to help these athletes to train the mind, train the body and train the spirit.
I am grateful for your support,
Welcome To The Next Level In YOUR Sports Performance Training!!
