Parents, Did You Know This About Athletic Participation Rates?

Participation in high school and college athletics is increasing with more than 7.3 million high school students participating annually. (Source: National Federation of State High School Associations)

Student athletics account for more than 2 million injuries annually, including 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations. (Source: Centers for Disease Control)

Dominate My Sport is committed to providing your high school athlete with a plan to keep them healthy, in peak athletic condition and to help safeguard against the risk of injuries.

We believe a good strength and conditioning program should accomplish three primary goals

Goal 1: Keep the Student-Athletes Healthy & Decrease the Risk for Injuries.

What if you could play harder, win more AND have less injuries?

One of the ways we keep our student-athletes healthy (and decrease their risk for injuries is through our Sports Performance Testing (this is what we consider early detection of potential injuries).

We then integrate Exercise Therapy within our Strength and Conditioning programs to help student-athletes fully recover from old injuries and prevent future ones.

From Coach JP: Why Do Injuries Occur

There are various reasons why an injury might occur, such as improper training, improper technique, equipment failure, and/or anatomic or biomechanical issues of the athlete. (Source: American Orthopedic Society for Sports medicine. Stop Sports Injuries, Sports Tips. 2010)

From Coach JP: What Is An Overuse injury?

Athletes sustain two types of injuries in playing sports: acute and overuse. Acute injuries usually result from a single, traumatic event such as a fall or hit to the leg or arm. Some common examples of acute injuries are fractures, sprains, and dislocations. Overuse injuries are more difficult to diagnose and treat because they are usually subtle and occur over time. When repetitive trauma affects the tendons, bones, and joints, an overuse injury develops. Common examples include tennis elbow, swimmer’s shoulder, Achilles tendinitis, and stress fractures. Goal 2: Help the Student-Athletes Reach their God-given Potential Physically.

What if you could play harder, win more AND have less injuries?

Without sufficient staff to give every student-athlete the individual attention they need, performance in their sport can fall way below the capacity of their athleticism. Dominate My Sport can help you! Partnering with us allows you to have ongoing sports performance testing for your student-athletes to identify physical weaknesses, potential injuries, and customized strength conditioning, which will address the student-athletes specific needs and increase compliance. We will also conduct post-session sports performance testing to evaluate trauma that occurred during the season. This will ensure your student-athletes are a step ahead in taking care of their bodies and empowering them with the right direction during the off-season. Think of our service as a mini sports lab that comes to you without all the big equipment and high cost. And we can even run a report of your student-athletes results! Benefits:

    • Coaches benefits: Feeling confident that your athletes are getting elite injury prevention and a comprehensive programming that will take them to the next level.

    • Coaches benefits: Why they are known to have the most trust.

    • Receive metrics and reports of your athlete’s weight room performance with our system that can monitor up to 500 athletes.

    • We Come to YOU.

    • Increase compliance of off-season training and return to sport training regiments.

    • We conduct sports performance testing for injury prevention which includes wireless sensor technology and electromyography (EMG) sensors that are placed on the skin of the athlete in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, the legs and low back. These sensors discreetly monitor movement and muscle activity simultaneously, and the collected data is displayed in real-time or analyzed for immediate feedback.

    • Having a specialist as a resource to condition athletes during the off-season, and design and implement a recovery program during the season.

    • Cultivate a community among athletes on and off the sports arena.

Goal 3: Guidance in Preparation for Adulthood.

High school is a crucial season of a student-athletes life. It’s in-between their youth years of the past and adult years ahead. Helping your student-athletes identify the path of womenhood and manhood will help prepare them to walk in wisdom and productivity. We place a great emphasis on character development that’s centered around the gospel message (the good news of Jesus Christ). This is a message of hope, love, repentance, restoration, and forgiveness for every hungry soul. Our character’s first initiative is to help students each week apply the character lesson taught that particular week or each team training in the weight room. Sports are a great way for student-athletes to exercise and learn about how I teach teamwork and discipline…all while having fun! Research has shown that compared to their peers, students who participate in sports attend school more often, and are more community and civic-minded, get in less trouble, and tend to be more successful in the workplace. To help students enjoy the lifelong benefits of sports, it’s extremely important for coaches to teach them safe ways to participate. (Source: American Orthopedic Society for Sports medicine.
